Description
Aaron Smith, a Youth Counselor at the Department of Corrections Boys School, founded Y2Y to bridge the gap between staff and the young men they serve. Y2Y is both a mentorship program and a book, Youngsters to YUNGSTARs, created to inspire and empower young men to grow into individuals of class and integrity.
Y2Y: From Youngsters to YUNGSTARs
Y2Y is a 20-day program designed to equip young Black men with essential life skills, such as conflict resolution, decision-making, financial literacy, and goal setting. Through daily discussions rooted in real-life experiences, the program motivates participants to take charge of their lives and make positive choices.
The initiative addresses challenges young men face, including the absence of male role models, limited literacy skills, and exposure to a broader perspective on life. It emphasizes turning conflicts into productive debates, developing routines for personal well-being, and setting realistic, attainable goals. By encouraging young men to explore opportunities beyond their immediate surroundings, Y2Y helps them move away from stereotypical aspirations and toward meaningful success.
The Book: Youngsters to YUNGSTARs
The book serves as a powerful companion to the program, offering deeper insights and actionable strategies for personal growth. Whether used with the program or on its own, it provides valuable tools for guiding young men toward a brighter future.
